Great cruise by
Joe T. from Kerrville, Tx. Sailing date: Sep 2009Pros: More things going on on the ship Cons: Breakfast buffet line. We have cruised on this ship before and the activities onboard were scarce. If you like to shop or gamble, you will stay busy. If you are looking for entertainment they now have plenty of that going on. They have clubs for teens, clubs for adults and activities for the very young set. As I mentioned, the last time we cruised they had very little entertainment. This time the entertainment was continuous. The breakfast line for the made to order omelets was very slow. Thank goodness you have the option to eat in the restuarants. Ship Quality

First Cruise on Carnival Esctasy! by
Jennifer from Texas Sailing date: Aug 2009Pros: The service was great! Very helpful! Cons: Alcohol prices were very expensive! One drink came out to over $18!! The trip was wonderful! The only complaint is the price of drinks. I think they could probably sell more if they were a little less expensive. We ended up only having 4 drinks because of the prices! The staff was very friendly and helpful! Ship QualityFairly easy to find everything on boat. Everything kept clean and tidy. Dining/FoodLoved that food was available from 6 am to 4am! You can basically eat whenever you want and as much as you want!! The food isn't the best I've ever had, tastes like basic buffet food. Stateroom QualityNice room. About everytime we left room, it was cleaned when we came back. Ship Staff QualityStaff was very friendly and helpful. Room service was very helpful with whatever we needed! Entertainment & ActivitiesActivities going on all day! Always something to do!

Cozumel, MexicoShopping is more expensive here than in Progreso. We went on the snorkeling and beach party excursion for $59! It was awesome, definitely worth every cent! Free margaritas and beer with it as well!!
Don't Miss: Do a shore excursion here, not much else unless you only want to shop and eat. Progreso (Merida), MexicoVisit the flea market to get good deals on necklaces, etc. But make sure to bargain and never pay the price they are asking for. If they ask for $20, offer $5. The excursion to the mayan ruins are awesome! Book with auto progreso in port, they are alot cheaper than the ship.
Don't Miss: Flea Market, but make sure to bargain with them. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

Wonderful Cruise & Vacation, Great Price by
Joan M., from Kingwood, TX Sailing date: Jul 2009Pros: Food, Shows, Service was all excellent Cons: Excursions are pricey (and not much for kids under 5), boat decor shows age but was very clean We took this cruise with our 4 kids ranging in age from 5-18. We had two outside cabins. They were quiet, clean and plenty roomy enough. We had to book our excursions separately from the ship because of our 5 year old was too young for most of their excursions. Turned out to be a great deal. We had wonderful excursions at less than half the price!! The food was fantastic. My kids didn't do Camp Carnival too much but rather to hang out by the pool. The shows need a little updating as does the decor of the ship. One of the comediens was hysterical but the other was mediocre. No problems in getting on or off the ship. We did the soft drink card which was a bargain for us. All in all it was a great vacation. Ship QualityShip isn't the biggest there is. The decor is out of date but is not worn or dirty. It's heading to dry dock in a couple of weeks for updating. Dining/FoodFood was fantastic. There was more than ample variety and if you couldn't decide on an entree they brought you both! Stateroom QualityWe stayed forward on the Empress deck. I was concerned there would be a lot of noise on this deck but there was none. It was quiet, clean, and very comfortable. Ship Staff QualityOur room steward was super and took did lots of special things for my little ones. Everyone was very friendly. Entertainment & ActivitiesProbably need more activities for the late teen age group. Children's ProgramsI was a little disappointed in Camp Carnival. Twice when I dropped my kids off there the girl in charge was "fussing" loudly at the kids. My kids didn't stay that long there thought, they liked the pool better.

Cozumel, MexicoSo many things to do here. Again, we had to book acitivities through an outside company because Carnival doesn't do water sports for kids under 8. That's OK, we booked through Manta Sports and did a 3 hours snorkeling trip, then parasailing, and still fit in a quick lunch at Carlo and Charlie's. What more could you ask for? I'd love more time in Cozumel.
Don't Miss: In my opinion, you can't go wrong on anything in Cozumel, although it was very hot to have done the Ruins tours. Progreso (Merida), MexicoNot the best of ports. We booked a trip to the Reef Club resort from outside the cruise ship and that was fantastic but there were little choices. The town was poor. Not a lot of people who speak English.
Don't Miss: Reef Club Resort through Auto Progreso 2 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Larry B from La Porte, Tx Sailing date: Jul 2009Pros: Staff great and helpfull Cons: ship seemed to exists only to nickle and dime us to death Par tof trip was food included.. Oh you want a coke with your meal ... That will be $2.24 extra. I do not call that meals included! Ship Qualityworn down and shabby in some ways Dining/FoodFood only average. Any Beef dish terrible. Found the late dinning to be a real pain Stateroom QualityNoise level WAY to HIGH. Ship offered ear plugs. Not a solution to Clang noise all night progresso to Cozamel no sleep for entire DECK! Fun filled Cruise by
Krissi G from Texas Sailing date: Jun 2009Pros: The people we met, and the yummy food Cons: 5 hours late getting on the ship The ship was smaller than the last one I went on so I was worried that it would be over crowded, but that was not the case. Never had a hard time finding a place to lay out. The food was tasty and our servers amazing. Our room was just fine for two people and loved the window on the back of the boat. Ship Quality

Cozumel, MexicoWent on the catermeran / snorkeling trip, but didn't really see that many fish. Wish we could have spent more time at the beach they took us to. The staff on the ship was tons of fun though. (If you wanna go to Sr Frogs make sure you go to the one in town and not along the coast.)
Progreso (Merida), MexicoUmmm.. the dock was long, you had to go in on bus... all you see is concrete slabs. The beach was nice though... Not Cozumel nice, but still nice

good time had by all by
carolyn r from kingwood tx Sailing date: May 2009Pros: having enough room to be seated at all shows Cons: having to wait in line to disembark at ports for the price the boat was adequate and service was good. Everything was typical of most cruise ships. Did not find any surprises. However, unless you like sweet sweet syrupy drinks do not buy the drink card. They were terrible! The menu was varied and the food on the lido deck was good most of the time. I would have liked Mexican food choices (there were none--not even chips) and on Greek day they had no Gyros! Much of the staff speaks very little English and has to call on someone to come and translate. But room service was always there with what we wanted (past Carnival room service was sketchy). Overall, two people over 50 and 2 people under 25 had a really good time. I said no surprises-however-i was surprised at the number of places they could find to take your picture. On the stairs, at the piano, on the beach, on a motorcycle, etc etc. Ship QualityIf you have a walk-in closet at home, imagine 4 bunks and adressing table in that space and you've got it! An older ship but clean and up to date. Dining/FoodWould you like 2 lobsters at dinner? Ship Staff Qualityvery good Entertainment & Activitiestypical bingo and newlywed games 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  We LOVE Carnival Ecstacy by
Sonya H from Austin,TX Sailing date: May 2009Pros: Everything. The service. The food. The daycare. Cons: At the end of the cruise we had to get off the boat. We love Carnival and once again they have lived up to our expectations. This was the first cruise for our kids who loved it. There was always something for us and the kids to do. They were in all 3 different Camp Carnival levels and each enjoyed them. Dining/FoodI would prefer a wider lunch selection but overall the food is good. Stateroom QualityClean and roomy. Ship Staff QualityAlways go above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe shows were rather boring on this cruise...almost like a highschool production. We were disappointed. Children's ProgramsAWESOME! The kids loved it! 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Cruise to nowhere on a ship from hell by
Jeri H from near Dallas, Texas Sailing date: Apr 2009Pros: absolutely nothing. Poor food. Old, improperly maintained ship. Cons: delayed departure. Ports in Mexico cancelled shortly after sailing. No alternative ports. Returned to Galveston a day early. Called after learning of "No travel except for emergency" alert. Was told I could not cancel trip without forfeting all money. Shortly after sailing all persons on board were told Mexican ports were closed. Were told there would be alternative stops. Those stops never happened. Spent entire 5 day vacation on ship circling in gulf.
Only consideration was the return of $40 port charge not used in Mexico. Called Cruise line after return. No one would address concerns. Ship QualityOld, worn, and mismatched decore. Could feel floor in hallways "giving" when talking. improperly maintained ship--rust, dated. Dining/FoodDining room food was tolerable but not good. Buffets were intolerable. Stateroom Qualitysize ok--had handicapped accessible stateroom. Bed had body indentions and uncomfortable. Old and dated bathroom fixtures and missing or blackened grout on bathroom floor. Ship Staff QualityDinning and housekeeping staff were pleasant and helpful. Entertainment & ActivitiesComedy not suitable for family entertainment.
