Excellent Cruise by
Carlotta A from Fort Smith, Arkansas Sailing date: Oct 2009Pros: Wait staff, entertainment, comfortable bed Cons: not a thing We sailed from New Orleans to the Western Caribbean. This was a fantastic trip -- even with a little "rockin and rollin" from the water at times -- no fault of the ship or the captain. Everyone of the staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. We had a window room with king-size bed and had plenty of storage space and room to move about. The entertainment on the Fantasy is VERY good -- excellent singers, particularly. Thanks for a great vacation. We will be back again soon. Ship QualityVery clean -- and constantly being kept clean. Dining/FoodTwo of the greatest waiters took care of anything we wanted. Ship Staff QualityExcellent Entertainment & ActivitiesLoved the shows. Great comedians. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  Carnival Fantasy Cruise by
Anglia H from New Orleans Sailing date: Sep 2009Pros: The ports of call Cons: The service of the bartenders and food staff We recently sailed on the Carnival Fantasy. The ship itself is in good condition and has a nice layout. However, there is only 1 pool on the ship but there are three small water slides, so if you are taking kids, they will love it. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThe food itself was fine but the dining staff and bartenders are not friendly. Their tip is included in every drink you order so they are never in a hurry to get you anything. Since they already know their tip is 15% (you don't have a choice, it is put on your bill with every drink or soda you order) there seems to be no real customer service. I have taken about 5 cruises and this is the first one where the staff was not tripping over their selves for good strong customer service. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityThe room staff was wonderful!!! Entertainment & Activities

  Disappointed in Camp Carnival by
A Traveler from Marion Arkansas Sailing date: Aug 2009Pros: Ship Staff, especially our cabin steward, ship maintenance and cleanliness, food service Cons: Circle C component of Camp Carnival also entertainment We booked this cruise because our 11 1/2 yr old grandson wanted to participate in onboard activities; he didn't want to be with the little kids, 3-11, but since he's a 6th grader and all of his friends are 12 and 13 (he's the youngest in his class) he wanted to be with Circle C. Before we booked I called the 800 number for Carnival and was told just to talk to the Circle C staff once we got n board and it shouldn't be a problem. When we got there the woman who was working the evening of 8/31 was absolutely unmoveable and wouldn't even talk to us. We said we'd sign any sort of waiver, etc., that we wanted him with 12-14 yr olds. Our grandson had gone in the afternoon to check Circle C out and she was rude to him and we found him in our cabin trying to hide the fact he'd been crying. We tried to find Marissa, who was supposedly in charge, but were never successful despite going to find her several times. This really ruined our grandson's cruise; he'll never cruise on Carnival again, that's for sure. Carnival should rethink this policy and discipline this employee. Parents (we have custody of our grandson) know where their children belong. Not many 11 yr olds would want to be with younger children only; parents should decide where their kids fit best. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe evening shows seems stale and dated. I think some fresh options need to be added. Children's ProgramsCarnival should remember that these kids are their future cruisers; the rude treatment our grandson received was uncalled for.

Cozumel, MexicoThe water and beach activities at Cozumel are all they are cracked up to be. You don't want to miss the beach. Shopping here wasn't as cheap as at Progresso.
Progreso (Merida), MexicoChichen Itza was worth the 2 hour bus trip. Our guides really wanted us to learn about their culture.

  Wonderful Cruise by
Diana P from New Jersey Sailing date: Aug 2009Pros: Food, Staff, Activities Cons: Hidden fees The cruise was a wonderful and would go again. The staff was friendly the ship was VERY clean they always had activities going and tried to envolve the cruisers. However, the parents let the children run free and took over the pool (which was salt walter) and jacuzzi where it said Adults Only. I did ont use the jacuzzi for this reason and parents and staff did not enform the children they can not be there. The slides were awesome and that is where a spent majority of my time. The part of the cruise that took me by surprise was a $10 a day per person fee which i did not know about and was not unexpected. Eventhough the service was excellent and everyone was helpful knowing about this expensive would have been helpful. Ship Quality

Cozumel, MexicoThe water is gorgeous. I went Scuba diving (awesome) and did not really visit the shops and restaurants. From what i heard they use all bottled water but you should ask before ordering anything.

A good time with opportunities by
Dennis T from Houston, TX Sailing date: Jun 2009Pros: Weather on the trip, swimming with dolphins. Cons: Water on the cruise ship, debarkation process I got back from a cruise on the Carnival Fantasy yesterday, and I had a great time, Gede and Carlos were great in the Celebration Dining Room, and after the first two days Ratna was great serving drinks. Inyoman and Mohammad kept our suite in great shape and made sure we had everything we needed. The room service staff kept my nephew in chocolate cake (27 times) and whatever else he ordered. The shows were great with the exception of the comedian and the ventriloquist who should have missed the boat to get more laughs. The food on the Lido deck was mediocre, the drinks all were concentrates that had the horrible ships water used in them. Apparently Carnival has decided to provide lousy tasting water and drinks on the ship to force the sale of cokes and alcoholic drinks. I wondered why the bars used cans instead of fountains, and it must be that the water on ship would ruin the drinks. Even the coffee in the specialty bar was tainted by the ships water supply. There were no specialty restaurants on the ship. The Celebration dining room electronic menu advertised Beef Wellington and Baked Alaska on the dated menu every night, but Beef Wellington was never available and Baked Alaska was only available on the last night. While we were out at sea, the ships phone system set all cell phone dates to mid October 1999 and about 14 hours and 23 minutes off time which rendered all the alarms settings useless. One of the two drink machines in the Windows by the sea buffet lines was temporarily out of order for the whole cruise and the ship staff regularly stopped use of the one working machine to fill pitchers for the bars or drink service kart (that never once came by my table). The universal lounge waiters were hard to come by and didnt return with drinks 2 of the 4 times I found one and placed an order. The bar tenders at the casino bar were always attentive though, but I had to carry 3 drinks at a time back to the universal lounge which require 2 or 3 trips. Getting off the ship was a fiasco, our VIP status ended at boarding, we had no ability to get off early, when I fly first class, I get to leave the plane first, but not on Carnival. In addition, we were given false information by the cruise director, she said that if we were going to get off the ship carrying all of our baggage, we could leave at 7:15 to 8:45, but when we tried to do that we were stopped and told we had to depart by decks, she only said that general debarkation would be by decks, not the self debarkation. When we did try to depart, there were no directions for departure posted, fire doors that had never been closed were closed and there were lots of blind hallways that used to go through. After the upper deck was called it took an hour to leave the ship standing in line. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodExcellent in the Celebration dining room, but mediocre elsewhere. There is not an upgrade dining room on the ship. Stateroom QualityThe hot water is extremely hard to regulate. Ship Staff QualityOur dining table staff was great, our room staff was great, bar staff was great, but the show and casino waiters were hard to find and didn't always return with drinks. Entertainment & ActivitiesAll were great except for the comedians and ventriloiquist. There was an announcement not to carry cash on shore excursions that none of the shops on shore accepted cash, apparently this was designed to direct us to "ship approved shops" since many of the other shops took only cash, not credit cards. 5 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

  Ship is like new! by
Amber D from Nashville, TN Sailing date: Apr 2009Pros: Newly remodeled - clean, beds are AWESOME, water park pretty fun, lido deck is gorgeous Cons: No more water activities for little ones I worked on the Carnival Sensation for two years and even got married onboard, so I am VERY familiar with this class. The Fantasy was redone and it looks fabulous. The lido deck is like Extreme Ship Makeover! Who knew a few palm trees could make it look so luxurious! The beds in the cabin were super comfy and Camp Carnival's new facilities are GREAT! The new water park is nearly as big as the pictures imply, but it was fun anyway. My son (3 years old) was too short for the slides (as expected - this is a safety rule and I am not complaining) and the only pool onboard now is 4'9" deep so he was outta luck with any H2O fun, but he did love Camp Carnival. Would be nice if the kept a little splash pool or something for the little ones as the sprayers weren't operating when we were onboard. The shows were not as impressive as expected - I'm disappointed that Carnival is using more and more movie props for the big shows. I just want to see good, LIVE, talented performers! Overall a great cruise. Ship QualityLooks great - love the remodel and new layout. Very nice! Dining/FoodFood on this ship was average - nothing wonderful. Stateroom QualityWe had an oceanview on Riviera deck and it was great. The beds were super comfy and with three adults and one 3 year old in a room it did not feel the least bit crowded. The bathroom remodel looks great as well. Ship Staff QualityNice staff - no one really stood out to me, but no one was unfriendly either. Entertainment & ActivitiesShows not as top notch as expected, but musicians on Lido and Promenade were great. Children's ProgramsLOVE the new Camp Carnival facilities. Staff very nice and helped my three year old overcome his fears and have a wonderful time. Can't believe how much they are open!!

Cozumel, MexicoCozumel is more or less just a shopping stop now. The pier we were at had some shops that were ridiculously over priced, then others that were dirt cheap! Take a taxi into town to experience the real deal.
