A SUPERB CRUISE! by
Linda F. from york pa Sailing date: Oct 2009Pros: We loved the food & our waiters, Deide & Felix; enjoyed the post-dinner dining room shows by the waiters; it was so relaxing; enjoyed our time in Freeport, not so much in Nassau (tourist trap). Cons: We didn't like walking through cigarette smoke to the gym; Was hoping for fresh pineapple (I know, silly!) The Carnival Pride was beautiful. Very well kept - I don't think we ever saw any trash anywhere. Everything was spotless. Our cabin (balcony #5232) had somewhat of an obstructed view (which was explained to me at time of booking) was wonderful. We didn't mind looking over the lifeboat to see the ocean. Our steward kept our room very clean and provided ice each day (which we didn't find out until tuesday!) Ship Quality
Dining/FoodIf we could give the food 10 smiley faces we would. Our waiters were fantastic. We did not have any food that wasn't excellently prepared and presented. Stateroom QualityWe found our stateroom to be more roomy than expected. The shower was very small but adequate and we LOVED the shower head and faucets. We actually would love to install one at home. Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesWe went to relax and spend time together as a couple. THe shows we saw were very good when we went to them. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

Dan W. from Marion, OH Sailing date: Jun 2009Pros: Pools, Lido Deck, Newer Ship Cons: Entertainment This was our second cruise. First was also with Carnival. Stateroom, Food, and Ship were excellent. Entertainment seemed like a step down from our other cruise. Ship Quality

Freeport, Grand Bahama IslandKind of an industrial type port. We did the Jeep tour and it was lots of fun but there is just not a whole lot to see on the island. Garden of the Groves was a nice place to spend about an hour. Could use some shopping areas closer to the port. Defintitly have a shore excursion planned on this island or you will be mega bored.
Don't Miss: Bahamas Jeep Tour Grand Turk IslandNice port. Clean and lots of small shops. Super blue/clear water.
Don't Miss: The Flowrider and Catamaran Sail and Snorkel Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)Food was excellent
Don't Miss: Spending time at the beautiful huge beach 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

  6 day bahamas by
John D from Stow, Ohio Sailing date: Jun 2009Pros: The ease of check-in Cons: Everything is for sale When looking for a cruise, we wanted a relaxing break with more sea days. We chose this cruise because we could drive to the port of Baltimore in about 5 hrs(less time than taking a plane to Florida).
We had never driven to a cruise before but the port of Baltimore was very easy to get to, parking was painless and was right next to the terminal. We were pleasantly surprised at the quick check-in (only about 10 minutes) and how fast we got into our cabin. The lunch provided on the Lido deck was excellent.
We chose a cat 11 suite which was spacious and well laid out. The bed was very nice but the room is starting to show it's age. The lamps were broken and the carpet had some deep stains. The whirlpool tub was excellent.
All of the public areas of the ship were immaculate and the ship was well laid out and easy to navigate.
By far the best part of the cruise was the Carnival employees. All of them were very pleasant and always willing to help. The servers were attentive and the cabin steward was more than willing to go out of his way to make us feel comfortable. We feel the tipping was made easier by adding it to the bill at the end of the cruise even though we gave more to our cabin steward and waiter and tipped individuals during the cruise for exceptional service.
This was a very inexpensive cruise but carnival made it up by overpricing just about everything else like soda cards for $42, single bingo games for $10-$20, drinks and spa treatments and the shore excursions were very expensive ( like going to a beach for $90/person with no lunch!), .
The only downfall was the incessant selling from all departments. The employees must be on commission or a selling quota because some really tried the hard close. There wasn't an announcment that more than half was trying to sell things like weightloss, spa treatments, jewelry, books, etc. Wait untill the last day and all the prices go down.
Overall the cruise was enjoyable and relaxing. We didn't know what to expect because the reveiws we read were all over the board. Like I said at the beginning, we chose the cruise because of the itinerery and proximity to our home but Carnival definately exceeded our expectations and after this experience, we would definately cruise Carnival again. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThe food in the regular dining room was mostly good but the portions, especially breakfast was rather skimpy. On the other hand, Davids Supper Club served humungous portions and everything was prepared perfectly. We had four servers waiting on us and could not take a drink of water without one of them right there to fill up our glass. The only glitch was that the chef put a spice on the lobster (I think it was rosemary) meat that I feel ruined the taste of the tail. Stateroom QualityOur suite was one of the best we've stayed in. It was roomy and well laid out. The carpet showed definate signs of wear but the whirlpool tub a nice perk. The bed was terrific and our daughter liked the fold down bed. Ship Staff QualityAll of the staff was cheerful and overly freindly. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe shows were well thought out and the performers were excellent. The best we've seen on a cruise. The final show with the winners of the karoki contests was excellent!!

Freeport, Grand Bahama IslandI hadn't been to freeport for 20 years and the island seemed much nicer this time. Everything was clean but the port is out of the way so it was pretty hard to get anywhere. My wife and daughter did the "Junkinoo Beach Party" tour and really enjoyed it. The beach was very nice and the lunch provided was terrific.
Nassau, BahamasThis was our fourth time to Nassau so we just took a ferry to Atlantis since our daughter had never seen it and a taxi back to the ship. The taxi was much better and with a little negotiations, it was only $3 per person. The straw market is always fun and we went to the beach at the Hilton BC for $20 for all of us (It is right next to the dock and you can walk in 3-4 minutes). We went to Johnny Rockets for lunch and had 2 small hamburgers and a grilled cheese for a grand total of $55.36 (try to eat on the ship if possible).

  The best cruise yet by
Cindy H, from Alexandria, VA Sailing date: Apr 2009Pros: Our room and the decor of the Pride, unbelievable Cons: The embarkation and debarkation process at Baltimore although it is the most convenient location We just returned home from a 6 night Bahamas cruise on the Carnival Pride. It was amazing! From the moment we walked onto the ship we were unbelievably impressed with the decor, the people and the atmosphere. This was my sixth cruise and it was the best by far. We were fortunate to stay in a suite for the first time ever and it will be extremely difficult to go back to a regular cabin. WOW, the room, the decor and amenities...cannot be beat. The cabin steward and all the staff were amazing. They were gracious and genuinely happy to make our trip a memorable one. I would recommed Carnival Pride to anyone and would definintely prefer it for our next cruises. Ship QualityThe decor was beautiful, spacious, and clean. All area were easy to find an in perfect locations. We never wanted or needed to search for anything. Dining/FoodGreat and plentiful Stateroom QualityWe did not want to leave and joked about stowing away. The room was gorgeous with its hard wood floors and granite countertops, tabletops and accents. The walk in closet was really walk in and the bathroom and dressing area rivalled most homes, Ship Staff QualityThe people were truly amazing. They were always smiliing and willing and anxious to make every moment of our cruise, perfect. No request was too difficult. Entertainment & Activities
Children's ProgramsAlthough we do not have children we were advised that our cruise had close to 600 children and we never saw or heard them. Obviously the program is great. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

  Fantastic Time by
Candy W from Chewelah WA Sailing date: Mar 2009Pros: The ship was beautiful, it was open and spacious. We had no trouble finding our way to where we wanted to go. All of the staff onboard were great. I can't think of anyone whom did not go out of their way to help us. The decor was elegant. Cons: I really can not come up with any cons. Everything went so smoothly. The ship was beautiful. It was elegany in every way. Our stateroom was great, and we never once felt as if we were crowded. I have been on other ships over the past few years, I think this was my favorite ship so far. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThe food was also great, we had late seating and I must add the staff did a great job seating us with dinner companions. Stateroom QualityOur room was very nice, we were impressed with the amount of room we seemed to have. We loved our balcony, infact that is where we spent our early mornings and our late evenings. Ship Staff QualityThe staff was very helpful, and everyone we spoke to seemd freindly. We enjoyed speaking to people from all corners of the globe, and I must say they all spoke english much better than I would or could speak their native language. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

allan L from Folso, CA Sailing date: Mar 2009Pros: We loved the food entertainment and activities on ship...The excursions were also memorable Cons: The lady I went with , the mood and romantic times spent together
The ship was beautiful and always clean..Everyone we talked to was having the time of thier lives... the personnel were always kind and considerate.

Mazatlan, MexicoWe had a guy tour us around for $30.. It was nice and we got our shopping done.. fun place too.
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Cabo San Lucas, MexicoProbably the best port I've been iin to do things. WE rode the horse, parasiled and wanted to jet ski but ran out of time... We could have stayed another day easily... I even found Dr.Pepper to drink...*Which reminds me...The soda bar should be open 24/7....

When can we go again? by
sandy w from Lincoln,MT Sailing date: Jan 2009Pros: the no pressure just enjoy yourself attitude Cons: not knowing what to do at the ports of call We were a little daunted by the sheer size of the ship being as it was our first time cruising
but by Tuesday we were very comfortable in our "New Home" . Had a good idea where
everything was and what was expected of us; absolutely nothing but have a good time.
The gym was my husbands dream including the steam room. We were a little worried
about going to the main dining room as we were not sure how "dressy" it would be.
It was wonderful and everyone made us feel very comfortable. The food was above
and beyond what we had expected. Very delectable!!! And the service was wonderful.
Our waiters and the maitre-de were very funny and welcoming asking us were we had
been all week (we didn't go there until Wed). The Mermaid Grill had the most efficient
system for having a lot of people there without having long lines. The only thing that
could have been done different would be more than one "Dessert Area". My husband
would have been very happy to have Chocolate Chip Cookie stations set up everywhere
on the ship. Our trip was made very enjoyable by a variety of people and events, but
\the best part was just having time to ourselves. Ship Quality

Entertainment & ActivitiesWhen the ships "Shopaholic" Mark gave a presentation about ports of call and shore
excursions, he mainly focused on the diamond and jewel dealers for the shopping
expeditions. We were mainly interested in memorabalia to take home to the grandkids
and really didn't care about shopping for jewelry.

Mazatlan, Mexico
Puerto Vallarta, Mexicowe did not do any excursions here and really should have. we mainly stayed within
range of the ship and did our t-shirt shopping right at the pier. such a beautiful city
and we did miss out on a lot of fun activities because we were unsure of the excursions.
Cabo San Lucas, MexicoJust wish that Cabo was a longer stop. Not enough time there to really explore all
that we wanted to do.

  Good experience by
Ryan C from Colorado Springs, CO Sailing date: Jan 2009Pros: Food, room Cons: Not a lot to do, smoking on board, not as nice a region as expected The ship was very nice. Some of the things we were dissapointed about was the smoking allowed on board and the entertainment on board all seemed to be the same stuff an the shore excursions were very expensive and the one we did that was really dissapointing was the beach horseback riding- very boring and unexciting. The food was really good, opposite of what a lot of reviewers mentioned, the room was bigger then expected, we got a blacony room on the fifth floor. The staff was all very nice and helpful. The ship gift shop was very dissapointing and we found ourselves needing a lot of things when we got to some of the ports. Ship QualityGood overall but smoking on board was a definite negative thing. The ship was very nice and clean Dining/FoodBetter then expected Stateroom QualityReally happy and suprised at quality and size Ship Staff QualityVery helpful and courteous Entertainment & ActivitiesNot something we enjoyed as much, really one of our only things to rate lower then the other thing.

Mazatlan, MexicoWe took an off cruise tour from a local tour guide for forty dollars and really had a suprisingly good time. We got a lot of the history and saw a lot of the major sites of the town
Puerto Vallarta, MexicoDolphin signature swim was awesome! The prices for photos was very expensive though, $25 for one 5x7 was pretty outrageous to us. We really didnt explore too much
Cabo San Lucas, MexicoWe were really dissapointed in this port as we expected it to be more pretty then we actually saw. Nothing really exciting about it. We did beach horseback riding and wished we could have gotten our money back.

Mexican Riviera - Rest and Rejuvenation by
A Traveler from Tucson, AZ Sailing date: Dec 2008Pros: Glass bottom kayak & snorkeling in Cabo; Extreme Canopy in Puerto Vallarta. Cons: Club O2, for 15-17 year olds, was difficult & disorganized for my teenage son. The ship was clean, well-decorated, and efficiently managed. The food was diverse. Plenty to do on board, and also plenty of opportunity to rest and relax. Very smooth sailing. The artwork available at auction was fantastic. Ship Quality

  My 2nd cruise by
Ed C from Pleasanton CA Sailing date: Nov 2008Pros: The food in the main dining room (2nd and 3rd floors) Cons: The drinking water and the food in buffet (9th floor) Believe we are not the only couple complained about the drinking water
I hope we are not drinking the re-cycle water ?
Joined excursions on all 3 ports.
All were over priced and not much to see.
We actually booked on line directly with Carnival,
but found out Price Line offered cheaper rate afterward,
called Carnival but they spinned us around and refused to roll back.
Better wait till the last minute for better deal! Ship QualityNice internal design, better than the colorful NCL.
Not too many rusted areas found. Dining/FoodThe food in the main dining room was great
But the food in the buffet was limited
The drinking water really has a strange/bad smell !
No wonder people bring their own drinking water on board! Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityNice staffs everywhere Entertainment & ActivitiesThe first 2 night we were putting in a 8:15pm dinner and the next show was 10:00pm,
it's a bit late from our usual bed time.
In our cruise, was told one of the performer was sick so they threw in a sub standard show, I guess the real reason is cost cutting ? 2 out of 4 people found this review helpful.
