Awesome Cruise! by
A Traveler from Georgia Sailing date: Nov 2009Pros: Easy booking process, great updates via e-mail, would definitely book thru Priceline again Cons: Hard to use the free hotel credits - never seems to be enough money for a hotel room night Carnival Ledgend was smaller than most Carnival ships and the shows were NOT as good as the other cruises I have been on...otherwise, the ship stopped in great ports and had a lot of activities to do! Amazing vacation! by
Jessie S. from Colorado Sailing date: Aug 2009Pros: Food, service, ports, EVERYTHING!! Cons: Nothing! We just finished our first cruise on the Carnival Legend. All we can do is rave about our experience. WOW! From the first moment we set foot on the ship all the staff were very gracious and helpful and the service everywhere was excellent. We chose not to do the more popular stuff such as the casino, pools, hottubs, or bars/lounges, and there was still plenty for us to do. We relaxed in a quiet spot on deck in the lounge chairs, took lots of naps (I know, I know, but we have 5 kids age 9 and under and don't get to do that much at home!), watched the shows - which were wonderful - and spent quality time together. The food was much better than expected, and we did each gain 5 lbs, but what fabulous food and service! All the ports of call were fabulous, and we can't wait to go on another cruise. Ship QualityWe thought the ship was beautiful, and even with 2500 guests on board for a week, the place was always spotless. Dining/FoodFantastic!! We chose open dining where we could eat whenever and with whomever we chose. We ate with others a few times, and ate alone most of the time (another thing we don't get to do much of). All the food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was so beautiful. We're going to look for a few of the recipes that we loved so we can make them at home. We also ate at the specialty restaurant the 2nd night and the service and food there was excellent, too! Stateroom QualityWe had a balcony room which we loved. The room was always spotless and we loved the towel animals every night. The bed was so comfortable! Ship Staff QualityEveryone was just amazing! We were surprised to see that when we got off the ship, more people were getting back on just a few hours later for another cruise. (We had a late flight and hung around the area). Even with new people to serve every week, the staff treated us as if we were their first customers and that they were always so happy to see us. Entertainment & ActivitiesThere were lots of activities that we didn't go to, but those that we did were well planned and excellent. The evening shows were great!

Don't Miss: Cave Tubing - So Much FUN! Cozumel, MexicoBeautiful, clear water! I didn't like all the people trying to sell us stuff all the time.
Don't Miss: Scuba Diving! George Town, Grand CaymanPeople drive on the left instead of the right, be careful if you rent a car. Very fun Port.
Don't Miss: We did the Sting Ray City and Snorkeling Tour. AWESOME!! Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, HondurasBeautiful island!

  Alot of fun!! by
A Traveler from State College, PA Sailing date: Aug 2009Pros: Getting to sample multiple countries in a short period of time. Cons: Getting to sample multiple countries in a short period of time... Fun cruise, we visited some beautiful sites. I would love to try a cruise where they spend a couple days in each location because it takes the first day to talk with locals and whatnot to decide what the best things to do are. The excursion options given by Carnival are good. However, nothing competes with finding your own shore side trips with local info and guides. Ship QualityBig ship, pretty convenient layout. Easy to get around. Stateroom QualityNice rooms. Ship Staff QualityBest cruise ship staff I have ever encountered! Entertainment & ActivitiesCould have a few more educational or cultural activities going on.

Belize City, BelizeNot to much to do in Belize City, schedule an excursion (the zip lining was fun here).
Cozumel, MexicoOk port. If you go to the Mayan ruins make sure you grab a meal at "Mr. Frosties". Great Mexican meal (if you like spicy salsa) for only seven bucks.
George Town, Grand CaymanPort was ok, expensive shops.
Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, HondurasNice port. Nice free beach on the west side if you don't need a chair and umbrella. Just grab a taxi there and back. Nice snorkeling right off the beach here too (as well as local guides offering banana boating, snorkeling, and fishing for good prices). Should be able to find a ride there and back for around 10 bucks although they will ask for much more initially (25-30 USD usually).

Good time, but watch your receipts by
Rhyne F. from North Carolina Sailing date: Jul 2009Pros: Honduras, and the wait staff at the dinning room One night a waitress at one of the bars told us that the drinks were half priced. She also wrote it on the receipt like the were half priced and didn't include a total. At the end we found out that they were not half priced and the cruise line would not do anything about it. I called the service line ad they said they will look over it again and I will find out in 2-4 weeks if they will reduce the charges. It seems like a long time to wait, since one of their staff obviously made a mistake.
Otherwise, the ship was the nicest one I've been on in the Carnival fleet. The service in the dinning room and the decks was amazing.
I would highly recommend the diving/snorkeling in Honduras. Ship Quality

Belize City, BelizeWe did a nice snorkeling trip there, but be careful, this seemed like a pretty sketchy city.
Cozumel, MexicoThe beaches were beautiful. I would not recommend the trip to Tulum (the Mayan ruins). They were neat once we got there, but the trip took 7 hours and by the time the guide let us go walk around we only had 1.5 hours to enjoy the place and the amazing beach that is there.
George Town, Grand Caymanswimming with sting rays!
Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, HondurasGo diving. It was awesome for fish life. (The coral reef and fans were the best in Belize).

  A Wonderful Cruise by
A Traveler from Do not publish Sailing date: May 2009Pros: The food was excellent. Cons: My room attendant was not as attentive as the person who helped me in 2006. The ship's entertainment was non-stop. I felt very well-informed. The dining staff was very thorough except for a couple of workers on the last 2 nights. My husband and I were so spoiled we did not want to return to "reality." We would travel with Carnival again and plan to book with priceline. Even though our itinerary changed, I was able to get details before my trip with priceline and carnival. Thank you for a great trip. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThere were a variety of healthy options. The ship made great use of the food, with creative "re-runs." Everything was delectable. Presentation of the food was very inviting. I miss the food even today--- 2 months later. Stateroom QualityWe had a balcony! Need I say more. Ship Staff QualityStaff were at our beck and call. We could ask for any assistance as needed. Thank you. Entertainment & ActivitiesWe felt very welcomed by the entertainment staff. There was a nice variety of Vegas style entertainment, comedy, etc.

  Overall, Great Cruise by
Veronica H from Fairfax, VA Sailing date: May 2009Pros: Food, Service Cons: Belize, Pushy Sales People My boyfriend and I weren't sure what to expect on our Carnival cruise but overall, we were very pleased with our trip. We booked the least expensive room on board and were expecting to sleep in a tuna-can. Our room was both larger and nicer than we had expected and we even had a window. Daylight!
One of the best parts of the cruise was the service. Our stateroom steward was very attentive and helpful. The food staff was friendly and prompt. The cruise director was informative and enthusiastic. The entertainment (musicians, performers, etc) were all extremely talented!
The food on board was killer. The lunch buffet was really top notch food. No Old Country Buffet-type food here. Anything from Indian, to Asian to Italian to French. The dining room food was equally good and the 'nice restaurant' on board that you pay a bit extra to eat at was out of this world. Definitely worth the extra $30 per person for the five courses. The food was more like edible art.
There is some down time during the 'days at sea' but you definitely won't be bored. There are TONS of activities every day. From comedy shows, to tons of live music. One complaint I would have is that some of the activities are extra (ie: pilates, bingo, etc) so that is a con. Some of the activities are a bit cheesy (ice scupture demonstrations, some of the shows) but it's all in good fun and if you go into it knowing it may be a tad cheesy you'll have a good time.
One big complaint I had on board was that I always felt like somebody was trying to sell me something. The photographers on board are extremely annoying and ask you 100 times if you want a picture taken in front of a tacky background. Also, the drink waiters are a bit pushy trying to sell you the 'specialty drink' of the day. I felt like every minute I was being reminded of the "$20 bingo going on" or the "duty free liquor" or "all the great shopping with Diamonds International at the ports." On a side note, I am pretty certain that Carnival owns Diamonds International because they advertise the crap out of those stores. Honestly, if I never have to hear about Diamonds International again, it will be too soon! The Carnival people make it seem like the shopping at the ports is SO amazing, but it really wasn't at all.
Drinks are obviously not free and you are warned from Carnival not to take alcohol on board. I will just say that you CAN, in fact, take alcohol on board if you are smart. You can also get alcohol at the port stops if you are smart. Drinks add up fast on board so check your bill throughout the trip (you can check it on your tv) to make sure you aren't spending a fortune. I will say that there is a liquor tasting that is free that you should definitely check out!
Also, when you get on board the boat you won't have your luggage for a few hours so make sure you take a small bag with you for a bathing suit and change of clothes, because you'll definitely want to hit the pool when you get on board the ship.
We stopped in Cayman Islands, Belize and the Island of Roatan on our trip. Belize was a total dump. And that is coming from someone who took a pretty extensive tour and saw a lot of extreme poverty. I would avoid cruises that stop in Belize. We went snorkeling with sting rays in Cayman Islands with a Carnival excursion and had a blast. In Belize we saw Mayan ruins with a non Carnival excursion to save money, and while we had a great time it definitely wasn't as organized as Carnival. At the Island of Roatan we didn't book any excursions cause the main thing to do is the beach which is public. So, anybody can go without being in an excursion (ie; why pay $35 to simply be transported to a beach?). However, be warned that the taxis are EXPENSIVE and per person, rather than per taxi. We booked jet-skiing and it included transportation to the beach.
Overall, the cruise was a lot of fun and I would definitely recommend Carnival. Ship Quality

  An enjoyable cruise by
James L. from cleveland, tn Sailing date: Mar 2009Pros: no phones Cons: crowd The ship was clean and well organized. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThe food was not great ,but it was a good value. Stateroom QualityBed was not that comfortable, nor were the pillows. The service was excellent. Ship Staff QualityThe people that cleaned the rooms did a wonderful job and were very friendly. The people in the dining room were very friendly but did not seemed well trained. I base this off past experiences. If you wanted something other than water it was hit or miss. Entertainment & Activities

Cruis- Cayman, Cozumel, Belize, Roaton by
Daniel D from Indianapolis, IN Sailing date: Mar 2009Pros:
Overall staff was friendly with a few exceptions.
Clean ship, particularaly in cabins.
Ports visited were great as were the shore excursions. Best Ports -cozumel, Roaton.
Ship itself had plenty of room, not to crowded.
Most of ship offers ocian views or balconies.
Short waits to get on and off of ship in Tampa. -
Cons:
Fewer choices and poorer quality of food.
Felt more rocking (and observed more passengers with motion sickness patches) than on larger ships.
Deck chairs could be replaced. Ship QualityTHe ship was kept very clean. The layout was easy to figure out and it was easy to get to places. The ship had fewer passengers than our previous cruize, and I found it was easier to find lounge chairs in the afternoon, and seats in the theater at night. Dining/FoodServers were very nice. We really enjoyed the couples we were seated with at dinner. The quality of the food itself was not as good as the previous carnival cruise I have been on. Also minor requests were often denied at dinner. ( for a different kind of salsa, or salad dressing). Meat was sometimes over or under cooked at our table. Stateroom QualityWhile a lifeboat blocked most of our ocian view, the room was large, had a very good layout and was very spacious. It was also kept very clean throughout the cruise. Ship Staff QualityStaff were very friendly and professional. Our Cabin steward, servers, and bar staff were very nice. The only exceptions to this were certain members of pursurs office and some members of the casino staff. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe activies at sea are basically the same on all the carnival shipsI. The theater was very nice and accessible, the shows were good, and a wide variety of music and dancing was offered on board. Casino had plenty of tables and was rarely crowded. Children's ProgramsHardly saw any kids on the cruise. Staff kept them occupied. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.
